New Pakistani Prime Minister, Sharif, Sworn In

 ISLAMABAD (AP) _ Pakistan’s newly-elected prime minister, Nawaz Sharif
has been sworn into office.

Lawmakers earlier in the day elected Sharif by a wide margin as was expected, following his party’s victory in the May 11 parliament elections. During a speech shortly after his election,
Sharif vowed to improve the country’s ailing economy and called for an end to
American drone strikes.
