Sharon Kay Ives, 74, of Burlington, Iowa, died at Morning Sun Care Center, Morning Sun, Iowa, on Wednesday, October 9, 2013.
Born on May 29, 1939 in Burlington, Iowa, she was the daughter of Virgil “Mike” and Elizabeth Huston Watkins. Sharon met Ralph D. Ives in 1976 and after a long courtship they married on December 19, 1985 in Burlington, Iowa.
Sharon was a great homemaker who put her heart into preparing for family gatherings. She was an animal lover, always concerned about their well being and care. She enjoyed traveling, crocheting and her favorite season of the year, fall. Sharon worked at Woolworth Department Store for 20 plus years and was the head supervisor in the cafeteria. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church.
She is survived by her husband, Ralph Ives of Burlington, Iowa; one sister, Celia (John) Anderson of Burlington, Iowa; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.
Funeral services for Sharon Kay Ives will be held on Monday, October 14, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at Prugh’s Chapel, Burlington, Iowa. Pastor Larry Mumma will officiate. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Burlington, Iowa.
The family will receive friends in Prugh’s Chapel on Sunday afternoon from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m. A memorial has been established for the Des Moines County Humane Society. Condolences may be left at www.prughfuneralservice.com.
