Area Eagles Raising Funds, Food for Needy

After a couple months of picking up the pieces from an EF-4 tornado that swept through the town, residents of Washington, IL. still need a little help.

The Eagles Club in Carthage, IL. is raising donations through a soup supper Saturday. Harold Northup is the organizer of the event.  They’ll be serving chili, chicken noodle, and potato soup, as well as sandwiches. There will also be cake for dessert. The fundraiser is this Saturday from 4-7:30pm at the Eagles Club in Carthage, Illinois.

Meanwhile, it’s been almost a month since their last major food drive, and it’s time to restock the Burlington’s St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry this weekend. The Burlington Eagles Club will take $1 off of your meal if you bring in canned food items this Sunday during breakfast. President of the food pantry, Jim Wade, says after the first week of each month, things start to pick up.

On a normal week, the local food pantry feeds around 130 families. The food drive for St. Vincent de Paul in Burlington is this Sunday at 8am, at the Burlington Eagles Club.
