J. Fredric ‘Doc’ Roules, MD, age 86 of Mediapolis, died Saturday morning, March 1, 2014, at Trinity Rock Island, Illinois.  The son of James and Sadie Anthony Roules, he was born on January 21, 1928 in Fairfield.  He married Margaret Miller on September 12, 1953 in Big Mound.

 

He graduated from FairfieldHigh School in 1946. He joined the US Army and served in the Army of Occupation in Japan, returning to attend ParsonsCollege, graduating in 1951.  He received his MD from the University of Iowa in 1954 and served an Internship at Broadlawns Hospital in Des Moines.  Dr. Roules served as a Family Practice Physician in Mediapolis from 1955 until retiring in 1993.

 

‘Doc’ Roules was a longtime and active member and supporter of the FirstUnitedMethodistChurch in Mediapolis and a member of the Mediapolis Lions Club and the American Legion in Mediapolis.  He worked with the Emergency Medical Services in Mediapolis and was active for many years with the Burlington Medical Society.

 

He loved photography, travelling, flying, and roses.

 

His family includes his wife, Margaret; two daughters, Jane & John Jacobson of Ames and Christine Roules of Shanghai, China; a son Daniel Roules of Shanghai, China; and a granddaughter, ChuLi Roules also in Shanghai.  He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Helen.

 

His body will be cremated.  A visitation where the family will meet friends will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday, March 7, 2014, at the Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Mediapolis.  A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at the FirstUnitedMethodistChurch in Mediapolis with Rev. Jeff Kodis officiating.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be given to benefit of the Mediapolis Community Theater or the FirstUnitedMethodistChurch or the Mediapolis Education Foundation.

Hilda Louise ‘Til’ Haislet, age 85, of Wapello, died Tuesday, March 4, 2014, at the Wapello Nursing & Rehab Center.  The daughter of Sullivan Glen and Edna Mae Morrison Martin, she was born on August 21, 1928 in rural Wapello.  She married Robert Ruble on June 15, 1949.  She later married Tom Haislet on February 29, 1980 in Wapello.  He preceded her in death on August 5, 2002.

She worked as a laundry aide at the Muscatine General Hospital for 16 years and later she did various house cleaning in Wapello.  She was a life member of the VFW Auxiliary in Wapello.

She is survived by her brother, Fred Martin of Portland, Michigan.  Those preceding her in death include her parents; step-father Merle Partington; husband, Tom; and a sister, Mary Nichols.

A visitation with the family will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday, March 6, 2014 at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home in Wapello.  A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday at the Wapello Cemetery with Rev. Pam Kranzler officiating.

A memorial fund has been established for the benefit of the Wapello Nursing & Rehab Center.
