Margaret June Grimm, age 89, of Wapello, died Thursday evening, April 17, 2014, at the Great River Klein Center in West Burlington.  Margaret was the daughter of Lydia and Hans Friederich, born on June 9, 1924 in Elgin, Iowa.  She married Mark Grimm on June 17, 1951 in Taylor, Missouri.

Margaret graduated from Palmyra High School in Missouri.  She was a homemaker, raising her family of five children.  She was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church in Mediapolis.  She accepted Christ as her personal Savior as a young lady and lived her entire life by her faith, love for her family, and joy of serving others.  Margaret was known for her ability to make delicious meals for family and friends.

Margaret loved her husband, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren dearly.  She had a talent for painting pictures and putting difficult puzzles together.  Margaret went on many world-wide trips with her husband.

Her family includes a daughter, Bev & Keith Kuntz of Wapello; four sons, Curt & Karen Grimm and Kent & Denise Grimm both of Wapello, Chris Grimm of Burlington, and Steve & Christina Grimm of Wapello; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-three great grandchildren; and a twin sister, Mildred & Paul Butikofer of Elgin.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Mark; two sisters, Rose Curry and Mabel Hodel both of California; and two brothers, Elmer Reitz of Kahoka, Missouri and Hans Reitz of Taylor, Missouri.

Friends may call from noon to 7:00 PM on Monday, April 21, 2014, at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home in Wapello where the family will meet friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.  Margaret’s funeral ceremony will be held at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at the Apostolic Christian Church in Mediapolis with the Ministers of the Church officiating.  Burial will follow at the Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery, rural Oakville.

A Memorial Fund has been established for the benefit of Great River Hospice.

Karen L. Hummell, 54, of Burlington, died at 9:54 AM Thursday, April 17, 2014, at her sister-in-law’s home.

Born April 23, 1959, in Quincy, IL, she was the daughter of Floyd Albert and Lono Elizabeth Minger Guilfoyle. On August 22, 2006, she married Rodney Dean Hummell in Las Vegas, NV.

Karen worked for P.P.G. for 25 years.

She was a 1977 graduate of Highland High School in Ewing, Missouri.

She was a member of First Baptist Church in La Grange, Missouri.  She enjoyed scrap booking, camping, fishing, rafting, and traveling.  She shared a birthday with her twin brother, Kevin and her older sister, Lonette.  She also enjoyed attending scrap booking retreats with her best friend and sister-in-law Carolyn Seibert.

Survivors include her husband, Rodney; one son, Jeremy (Sharon Miller) Gard of Burlington; two daughters, Stephanie (Ben Ralph) McEntee of Niota, IL, and Amanda (Marcus) Twillie of West Burlington; one step-daughter, Mandi (Todd Dexter) West of Greenwood, IN; nine grandchildren, Keshawn Boyd, Deven Myers, Shawn Ryan Myers, Kobe Twille, Sydney McEntee, Libby McEntee, Liam McEntee, Haley West, and Eva West; four brothers, Charles (Nancy) Guilfoyle of La Grange, MO, Gene (Kathy) Guilfoyle of Maywood, MO, Paul (Pam) Guilfoyle of La Grange, MO, and Kevin Guilfoyle of Ballwin, MO; two sisters, Fran (Terry) Genners of Ottumwa, IA, Lonette (Randy) Thiele of Quincy, IL; sister-in-law, Carolyn (Tom)Seibert of Burlington; brother-in-law, Jack (Darci) Hummell; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and several aunts and uncles.

Visitation will be from noon until 7:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Monday, April 21, 2014, at Thielen Funeral Home.

The funeral service for Mrs. Hummell will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at Thielen Funeral Home with Pastor JudyAnn Morse officiating.   A time of food and fellowship will be held in the community room at Thielen Funeral Home following the service.  Cremation will be entrusted to the care of Thielen Crematory following the service.  A private graveside service will be Wednesday, April 23, 2014, at Aspen Grove Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for the Hospice of Central Iowa.
