Obituaries Monday June 2nd

Mary R. O’Day, 88 years, of Fort Madison, Iowa died at 4:10 pm Friday, May 30, 2014 at her daughter’s home in Burlington, Iowa. She

was born January 23, 1926 at Luray, Missouri, a daughter of Archie James and Estelle Maude (Weaver) Hawkins. On April 18, 1944, she married Carmen Willis O’Day at Palymra, Missouri. He preceded her in death.

 

She and her husband moved to Fort Madison in 1945. For 20 years, she worked as the secretary to the Associate Principal at the Fort Madison High School. She was a member of the First Baptist Church.

 

She is survived by two daughters: Sheri (husband Al) Tamberelli, of Aurora, Illinois; Cindy (husband Michael) Renner, of Burlington, Iowa; five grandchildren: Katie, Ryan and Ian Renner, Tricia Flores and Dominic Tamberelli and three great grandchildren: Kaylee, Brooklyn and Ashlyn Tamberelli. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one granddaughter.

 

Her family will greet friends from 3:30 – 5:30 pm Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at the First Baptist Church, Fort Madison, Iowa. A funeral service will follow and be held at 6:00 pm Tuesday, June 3, 2014 the First Baptist Church, Fort Madison. Pastor Tom Sandum and Pastor Dean Graber will officiate. Her body will be cremated following the services. Burial will be held at a later date at Luray, Missouri. A memorial has been established for the Crossroads Community Church building fund, contributions may be made at the church or the Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison.
