Alice Dell Robbins, 83 years, of Fort Madison, Iowa, died at 6:55 am Saturday, September 27, 2014 at The Madison, Fort Madison, Iowa. She was born June 28, 1931 in Fort Madison, Iowa, a daughter of Horrell E and Alice Hazel (Wyrick) McIntosh. On March 5, 1949, she married Harold Leroy Robbins at Fort Madison, Iowa. He preceded her in death on July 12, 1991.
Alice lived most of her life in Fort Madison and rural Donnellson. She worked for many years at Sheaffer Pen, retiring in 1993. She also cleaned Midtown Beauty Salon for a period of time. She retired from United Auto Workers (UAW), Local 1551 and was a past board member of Sheaffer Employees Credit Union. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church for more than 70 years, and taught Sunday School to the children. She was also a past member of the Izaak Walton Club. She was a Honored Member of Clan Mackintosh of Southeastern Iowa Branch. She enjoyed bird watching and was known by many as “Aunt Bea.” Alice loved spending time with her grandchildren, and often made them cookies.
She is survived by two sons: Russell Eugene “Rusty” (wife Karen) Robbins of West Point, Iowa; Harold Leroy “Rob” (wife Kathleen) Robbins II, of Kissimee, Florida; one daughter, Ellyn Marie (husband Roger) Freitag, of Donnellson, Iowa; one sister, Jeneale Zumdome, of Fort Madison, Iowa; 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother, James E. McIntosh, and one sister, Mary Jane Harkey.
Visitation will be held from 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at the Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison, Iowa. Funeral services will follow and be held at 5:00 pm Tuesday evening, September 30, 2014 at the Barr Memorial Chapel, with Reverend Ralph Andersen officiating. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established for the St. Paul Lutheran Church, contributions may be left at the Barr Memorial Chapel. Brenda Joyce Bates “Ms. Bates”, 74, of Burlington, died at 10:25 PM Wednesday, September 24, 2014, at the Burlington Care Center in Burlington.
Born November 27, 1939, in Kansas City, MO, she was the daughter of Mertin Leon Bates and Bertha Humphrey Ray.
Ms. Bates worked for General Electric for 25 years, while also owning and operating House of Kurls, then after retiring in 2001, she was a student center aide at the Burlington High School.
She was a graduate from Burlington High School and the Burlington Beauty Academy.
She was a member of Union Baptist Church Full Gospel Fellowship and Order of the Eastern Star. She loved doing hair, going to the casino, singing, and watching her soap operas. She also enjoyed traveling, shopping, and especially cherished time spent with her family.
Survivors include son, DeAndre (Patti) Leatherwood, daughter, Mecia McClellon, twin son, Robert McClellon, Jr., and twin daughter, Mertina McClellon, all of Burlington; ten grandchildren, Natasha, Blake, Malik, Cailey, Christopher, Carissa, Paris, Brayden, Morgan, and Elliott; two great-grandchildren, Brody and Gannon; two sisters, Djerdre Bates-Allgood of Chicago and Ina Tucker of Independence, MO; one step-sister, Dorothy Reyes of Burlington; one step-brother, Johnny Ray of Galesburg, IL; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Danera; one sister, Lovettia; three step-sisters, Helen, Mary Ann, and Pearl; and one step-brother. Lewis.
Visitation will be from noon until 8:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Monday, September 29, 2014, at Thielen Funeral Home.
The funeral service for Ms. Bates will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, September 30, 2014, at Union Baptist Church Full Gospel Fellowship with Elder Lawrence L. Manson officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A time of food and fellowship will be held at the church following the burial.
A memorial has been established.

Darlene Mae Gregg, 80, of West Burlington, died at 8:05 PM Friday, September 26, 2014, at the Danville Care Center in Danville.
Born May 12, 1934, in Americus Kansas, she was the daughter of Chester and Mary Vorhees Schlup. She married Robert Eagen. They later divorced. On May 5, 1973 she married Oscar Gregg. He died September 16, 2011
Darlene worked and retired from General Electric.
She was an avid gardener and she enjoyed riding snowmobiles and boating.
Survivors include two sons, James K. (Patty) Eagen of Burlington, IA, and Robert Michael “Mike” (Cindy) Eagen of Plattsmouth, NE; two daughters, Wanda D. (Tom) Miller of Burlington, and Mary (Stan) Fletcher of Sunrise Beach, MO; 10 grandchildren; 13 greatgrandchildren; two brothers, Kenneth (Jane) Schlup of OK, and David Schlup of Chicago, IL; one sister, Barbara Davenport of KS; and nieces and nephews.
The Graveside Committal Service for Mrs. Gregg will be 3:00 PM Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at Harness Cemetery, rural Mount Sterling, IA.
A memorial has been established.
