They were there to learn more about a proposed, underground, crude-oil pipeline that would run from North Dakota to western Illinois through Jefferson,Van Buren and Lee Counties in southeast Iowa and Hancock and Adams Counties in west central Illinois.

A spokesman for energy company Dakota Access told the standing-room-only crowd the timetable they’re following — more informational meetings this month…the pipeline permit request filed in January…the IUB’s permit decision in the 3rd quarter of next year…pipeline construction begins when the permit is issued…and the pipeline should be up-and-running in late 2016.
