A man is dead following a shooting last night in Burlington.
Burlington Police now confirming that a man shot several times during an altercation in the 1200 Block of Jefferson Street early Wednesday morning was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at Great River Medical Center.
Officers initially responded to a report of shots fired at 1204 Jefferson Street at around 1:23 am. When they arrived, they found the victim had suffered several gunshot wounds. The identity of the victim has not been released pending notification of the family.
A “stop and hold” order for a vehicle containing an armed and dangerous suspect was issued Wedsneday Morning to other area law enforcement. Burlington Police have confirmed that the vehicle they initially sought has been found, but no suspect has been arrested.
The Iowa Department of Criminal Investigation has been called in to assist Burlington Police with the investigation.
