Obituaries Monday April 18th

Wanda Jean Harris, 86, of Jefferson City, Missouri formerly of Morning Sun, Iowa, passed away Friday, April 15, 2016, at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City, Missouri.

 

She was born November 1, 1929, in Wapello, Iowa, the daughter of the late John Franklin and Mary Olive (Masters) Hupp.

 

She was united in marriage on August 26, 1951, to Thomas Burdette Harris who preceded her in death on November 25, 1980.

 

Wanda worked as a school cook as well as helping her husband on their farm as a homemaker.

 

She was a member of First United Presbyterian Church in Morning Sun, Iowa.  In her earlier years she enjoyed square dancing with her husband.  She also enjoyed gardening, crocheting, playing cards, and cooking for her family.

 

Survivors include: two children, Patricia Thomas, Morning Sun, IA; Bradley (Linda) Harris, Jefferson City; five grandchildren, Nicole Yancey, Heath Thomas, Brittiny Taylor, Weston Harris, Julie Harris; and 5 great-grandchildren.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, David Harris; two sisters, Edna Hinds and Frances Robertson; a brother, John Hupp; and a son-in-law, James Thomas.

 

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Monday, April 18, 2016, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home in Jefferson City, MO.

 

Additional visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Wednesday with funeral services following at 11 a.m. at Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Morning Sun, Iowa.

 

Burial will be in Elmwood Gardens Cemetery in Morning Sun, Iowa.

 

Memorials are suggested to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Dave Bowman, 61, of Burlington, died at 5:15 PM Thursday, April 14, 2016, at the Burlington Care Center in Burlington.

 

Born November 9, 1954, in Burlington, he was the son of Harold Joseph and Esther May McGinity Bowman. On June 15, 1977, he married Shirley Scearcy in Burlington. She died November 27, 2003.

 

He worked for various company doing auto body paint work. While living in Oregon he was self-employed doing auto body paint work.

 

He was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving during the Vietnam War from 1974 until 1975.

 

He was an avid Minnesota Vikings Fan. He enjoyed fishing, playing and watching golf, gardening with his wife, camping, working on cars, and especially spending time with family.

 

Survivors include one son, Ruben Bowman, Sr. of Burlington; two daughters, Malisa (Chad) Scott and Julie Bowman both of Burlington; one step-daughter, Anita Nichols of Burlington and four other step-children; four brothers, Richard Bowman, Sr. of Burlington, Robert Bowman, Sr. of New London, Harold Bowman, Jr. of Burlington, and Jerry Bowman, Sr. of Burlington; one sister, Margaret Krieger of Burlington; eight grandchildren; one great-grandson; and several step-grandchildren.

 

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Jack, and one step-son.

 

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh~Thielen Crematory.

 

The memorial service for Mr. Bowman will be 2:00 PM Saturday, April 23, 2016, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home & Crematory with Reverend Dean Graber officiating.  Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.  Full military honors will be rendered by the Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard. A time of food and fellowship will be held at the Moose Club following the burial.

 

A memorial has been established.

Jean L. Funck, 94, Burlington died Sun 4/17 at her home.

She is survived by a son, James of Gig Harbor, WA, a daughter Gretchen Lewis of Burlington, a sister, Charlotte Raith of Louisville, KY, 5 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

Memorial Funeral services will be held at 1030 AM Sat 4/23 at Bethany Lutheran Church with the family receiving friends one hour prior to the service.  Burial in the Aspen Grove Cemetery.  Lunning Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
