Dennis “Denny” Cook, 72, of Danville, died at 4:00 PM Saturday, April 22, 2017, at the Great River Klein Center in West Burlington. Arrangements are pending at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home.
William D. “Bill” Warth, 76, of New London, died Saturday, April 22, 2017 at Mesa, Arizona.
Services are pending at Elliott Chapel, New London.
Richard “Dick” Diewold, 85, of Burlington, died at 6:25 PM Thursday, April 20, 2017, at Great River Klein Center in West Burlington.
Born December 11, 1931, in Burlington, he was the son of Arthur Edward and Bertha Helen Snyder Diewold. On April 11, 1953, he married Shirley Ann Dickson in Burlington. She died October 26, 2011.
Dick, along with his dad, and brother, Tom, was co-owner and operator of the Arion Restaurant for about 50 years retiring in 1986.
He was a 1949 graduate of Burlington High School.
He was a U.S. Naval Reserve Veteran with several deployments including Cuba.
He was a member of SS. John and Paul Catholic Church, and a 4th degree Black Knight in the Knights of Columbus. He was a member of Blackhawk Gun Club and Burlington Sportman’s Club. He was a longtime volunteer supporting the Mississippi Valley Callers Association. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, spending time with his wife at the cabin along the Mississippi River and with the boys around the “round table”. It didn’t matter if it was the Chicago Cubs or the St. Louis Cardinals, he enjoyed watching baseball. He enjoyed playing cards, cribbage, keeping abreast of world news, and watching military history programs. He was a charter member of the Arion chapter of the Wild Wyoming Bunch (poker club). He was quick-witted and had a wonderful sense of humor. His pride and joy was spending time with his wife and his family.
Dick is survived by his children: daughter Linda (Joe) Paule of Boulder, CO; three sons, Daniel Diewold and Curt (Martha) Diewold, both of Burlington, IA and Mike (Tina) Diewold of West Burlington, IA; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Bonnie (Bob) Cohenour and Pat (Garry) Haack, both of Burlington, IA; and a brother, Jim Diewold, of Southbury, CT.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, a brother and a sister.
Per his wishes, his remains will be cremated and a private interment will be held. A Celebration of His Life will take place at Big Muddy’s at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for the Notre Dame Foundation.

Viola “Vy” R. Brown, 82, of Mount Pleasant, formerly of Burlington and Des Moines, died at 2:10 AM Thursday, April 20, 2017, at the Arbor Court in Mount Pleasant.
Born March 11, 1935, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Aubrey Lehigh and Alice Isophene Berrie Brown.
She graduated from high school in 1952.
Vy worked in food service for the Des Moines Scottish Rite Consistory for 25 years.
She collected hummingbird memorabilia, enjoyed animals, particularly cats and dogs, going to casinos, and collecting and listening to Irish Tenor music.
Survivors include one brother, Alan A. Brown of Cedar Rapids; five sisters, Jo (Gene) Wallace of Des Moines, Cathy (Dwight) Brown of Burlington, Barbara Van Hook of Mount Pleasant, Linda Simmons of Burlington, and Bonnie Rice of Burlington; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Irene Farlow; three brothers, Marvin, Dick and Phillip Brown; and one infant brother, Charles.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh~Thielen Crematory.
The memorial service for Ms. Brown will be 1:00 PM Sunday, April 30, 2017, at Prugh-Thielen Funeral Home with Ben Brown officiating.
