New London downed Notre Dame in Volleyball action last night in three games.
Burlington Bees lost an eight run lead in a 9-8 loss in ten innings against the Cedar Rapids Kernels on the road last night. Bees play the Kernels again tonight at 6:35 in a game that can be heard on Fox Sports 104.5 and 1360.
Western Illinois opened up their football season with a road win over Tennessee Tech 41-14.

Randal Grichuk smashed a two-run homer and Tommy Pham went 3-for-4 with two RBIs in the Redbirds’ fourth win in 11 games. The Chicago Cubs have hung onto their 3 ½-game lead over Milwaukee in the NL Central. Kris Bryant slammed a two-run homer and leadoff hitter Jon Jay was 4-for-5 with two runs scored as the Cubs handled the Braves, 6-2. Minnesota Twins beat the White Sox 5-4.
