Jean Marie Sprattling-Gordon, 70, of Burlington, died at 11:30 AM Tuesday, September 26, 2017, at her home.
Born May 30, 1947, in Saint Louis, MO, she was the daughter of Adolph and Mildred Bogan Faulkner. She married Tyrone Gordon in St. Louis, MO. He preceded her in death.
Jean was a retired Title 1 Math and Reading Assistant and an advocate at the Battered Women’s Shelter.
She graduated from Beaumont High School in St. Louis, MO and had an Associates Degree from SCC in micro-computer software.
Survivors include one daughter, Laurence “Robin” Gordon of Burlington; two sons, Sean Sprattling of Saint Louis, MO, & Damien Gordon of Burlington; four grandsons, Tahj Gordon, Tykel Gordon, & Cameron Gordon all of Burlington, and Trevor Sprattling of Saint Louis, MO; two granddaughters, Taylor Sprattling of Saint Louis, MO, & Chatara Gordon of Brooklyn, IA; a host of nieces & nephews; and her “like a daughter”, Andrea Burke of Burlington.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her life partner, one daughter, Tyrene Gordon, and one sister, Joan Faulkner.
The Graveside Committal Service for Ms. Sprattling-Gordon will be 11:00 AM Saturday, October 7, 2017 at Aspen Grove Cemetery. A time of food and fellowship will be held in the community room at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home following the burial.
A memorial has been established for her family.

Gordon “Gordy” Porter, 79, of Burlington, died at 9:12 AM Wednesday, September 27, 2017, at his home.
Born May 4, 1938, in Mason City, IA, he was the son of Charles and Florence Clara Hines Porter. On May 26, 1962 he married Mary Ann Astfalk in Burlington.
Gordy worked at the IAAP.
He was a member of the Divine Mercy Parish-St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. He and his wife enjoyed going out to eat, taking car rides, and his pet dog’s.
Survivors include his wife; one brother, Dean (Marjorie) Porter of San Juan Capistrano, CA; one sister, Elaine (Paul) Costolanski of Charleroi, PA; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Paul Porter.
The family will receive friends 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at Divine Mercy Parish-St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.
The Funeral Mass of the Resurrection for Mr. Porter will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, October 3, 2017, at Divine Mercy Parish-St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with Rev. Father Bill Roush as the Celebrant. Music will be provided by the Des Moines County Resurrection Choir. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. A time of food and fellowship will be held in the church cafeteria following the burial.
Memorials have been established for the Des Moines County Humane Society and the Wounded Warriors Project.

Sharon Kay Wisener, 71, of New London, died at 1:58 PM Tuesday, September 26, 2017, at the New London Nursing and Rehab Center.
Born November 24, 1945, she was the daughter of Lloyd C. and Leoma Meinsen Titus.
She was the Director of Sales and Banquets at Ramada Inn. She also worked as a waitress at the Burlington Golf Club.
She graduated from Burlington High School in 1963.
She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, playing cards and board games, and jigsaw puzzles. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, her Doberman dogs, and participating in the Red Hat’s Society.
Survivors include one son, Ed (Sheri) Wisener of West Point; two daughters, Jennifer Wisener of Santa Ana, CA, and Sara L. (Nick) Chenoweth of Burlington; six grandchildren, Brandon and Hannah Wisener, and Dylan, Bradie, Carter, and Savanna Chenoweth.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be from 8:00 AM until 10:00 AM on Friday, September 29, 2017 at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home.
The funeral service for Ms. Wisener will be 10:00 AM Friday, September 29, 2017, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Jason Unzicker officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
