Lee County Attorney Named Judge

Lee County Attorney Clinton Boddicker was selected Friday to be the new South Lee County district associate judge by the five district judges in Judicial District 8B.

The Hawk Eye reports that Boddicker was selected over two other finalists, Jonathan Stensvaag, a Lee County public defender, and Robert Westercamp, a private attorney and magistrate from Farmington.

Boddicker replaces longtime District Associate Judge Gary Noneman, who retired from full-time duties Monday. Noneman, who was appointed to the bench in 1987, will stay on as a senior judge.

It is not clear if Boddicker will remain in South Lee County because conflicts of interest exist from his years prosecuting people in Lee County. He could be transferred to another jurisdiction for at least a year to avoid continued conflicts.

The Lee County Board of Supervisors will appoint a county attorney to replace Boddicker based on applications they received for the open position. Lee County residents will have the opportunity to call for a special election if they do not agree with the supervisors’ selection.

It is not known when Boddicker actually take the bench.
