The Burlington Police Department moved headquarters to Jefferson Street after 23 years at their North Third Street location. The old building was falling apart and the police needed a new place to go.
‘The layout of the building wasn’t efficient,” Burlington Police Chief Dennis Kramer. He has been on the force for 30 years. Officers and employees have been moving things from the old building to the new one since last month.
The new building is spacious and has room for things they’ve never had before. Chief Kramer has many ideas to make their new facility as productive and safe as it should be.
Kramer also plans to build a museum of Burlington Police history in the second floor vault. This museum will house pieces of history from the Department’s past. The two other vaults are going to be used as well. One has been turned into a breakroom for the department and the other will be turned into a training area.
This building can be expected to hold the Police Department for the next 40 to 50 years. The new Police Department will hold open tours for the public in the near future.
The conference room has been updated to fit everyone and it is equip with new technology.
The Chief’s office has been redone and updated to look like a Chief’s office.
