Obituaries for Saturday July 6th

Jean Koehler, 88, of Burlington, died at 4:30 pm Thursday, July 4, 2019.

Born May 6, 1931, in Bloomfield, IA, she was the daughter of Levi and Ruth Christy Chadwick. On March 22, 1953, she married Harry James Koehler in Burlington, Iowa. He passed October 3, 1991.

Jean worked for Sylvania for 20 years, Lehigh Leopold for 20 years, and Daisiannas for 10 years.

Jean was a member of St. Francis Auxiliary, YWCA, Church Circle and Moose. She loved ceramics, woodcarving, painting, making bird pins and gardening. She enjoyed refinishing furniture and repairing just about anything.

Survivors include her son, James (Becky) Koehler of Burlington; daughter, Patti (Steve) Koehler Sorensen of Bettendorf, IA; six grandchildren; five great-grandchidlren and one on the way; two sisters, Joyce Pence of Bloomfield, IA and Joann Hunter of Seymour, IA; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Martin S. Chadwick, Carl Chadwick, Robert Chadwick and John Chadwick, five sisters, Doris Spurgeon, Mary Lee Lyons, Judith Chadwick, Jeanette Chadwick, and Alice Harden.

Visitation will be from 12:00 PM until 7:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home.

The funeral service for Jean will be 10:00 AM, Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) with Pastor David Yonker and Reverend Brooke Anthony officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A time of food and fellowship will be held in the fellowship hall at the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) following the burial.

Memorials have been established for the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and the Burlington Care Center.

Sharon Kaye Wolkenhauer, 73, of Burlington, passed away at 4:53 AM Thursday, July 4, 2019, at the Klein Center in West Burlington.

Born May 15, 1946, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Daniel and Norma French. On March 23, 1962, she married Jerry Keith Wolkenhauer in Burlington.

She was a homemaker as well as a cook at Hope Haven.

Sharon enjoyed fishing, Diet Mountain Dew in a can, collecting snowman memorabilia and feeding the birds. She loved her grandchildren and gardening; she was known for having a green thumb.

Survivors include her husband, Jerry of Burlington, one daughter, Tammy (Steve) Ives of Hopper, IL, three sons, Derek (Kelly) Wolkenhauer of West Burlington, Dustin Wolkenhauer and Brent Wolkenhauer both of Burlington; ten grandchildren: Allison, Jeremiah, Siarra, Stefan, Braylin, Brooke, Taylor, Madison, Jessica and Hope and seven great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents, Sharon was preceded in death by one sister, Patricia, and one grandson, Tyler.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh~Thielen Crematory.

The memorial service for Sharon will be 10:00 AM Friday, July 12, 2019, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home with Dave Pluster officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Memorials have been established for Great River Hospice and the Klein Center.
