Burlington Man Killed in Lee County Crash

Donnellson, Ia —A car crash in Lee County killed a Burlington man on Sunday.

The Hawk Eye reports that 62-year-old Larry Reynolds, of Burlington, was killed when his vehicle rolled over several times in a ditch after hitting another car.

A report from the Iowa State Patrol says that Reynolds swerved to avoid hitting another car and then lost control and crashed.

According to the report, the driver’s side of Reynolds’ SUV struck the rear passenger’s side of the other vehicle. After that, the vehicle entered the south ditch and rolled over several times before coming to a stop.

Three other individuals, 69-year-old Ronnie Underwood of Burlington; Sabrina Mathews of Salem, and Suzanna Kennedy of Highland, Texas, were injured in the crash. Underwood was taken by helicopter to the University of Iowa Hospital and Mathews and Kennedy were taken to Fort Madison Community Hospital.

The driver of the second vehicle, 22-year-old Holley Matthews of Salem, was reportedly not injured in the crash.
