Keokuk, Ia- (WGEM) Plans are being made for how a $500,000 donation will be used to bring improvements to the YMCA in Keokuk over the next several years.

YMCA officials said since the Y was opened in the ’70s there haven’t been any major improvements to the facility, now they’re hoping to use the first $200,000 of the grant coming from Roquette Grain to help them remodel old damaged sections of the building to make new exercise and classroom space.

Y officials said the goal is to have the first of the renovations done sometime next year. The additional money will be used to renovate the locker rooms and showers after the first part of the project is complete.
