Keokuk, Ia (WGEM)- The Lee County Sheriff’s office is continuing to prepare to sell the Baymont Inn on Keokuk’s Main Street.
In August, a judge foreclosed against the owners.
On December 4, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office will auction off the empty hotel to the highest bidder
Legal documents listed a judgment against owner OHM Hospitality LLC amounting to just over $1.2 million.
Local Residents believe the auction could be a chance at a new life for one of the city’s hottest pieces of property.
Some have suggested that the building could be repurposed into apartments or a senior living center. Anything as long as the building doesn’t go to waste.
Lee County Sheriff Stacy Weber says if you’re considering making a bid, be at the Keokuk Courthouse on December 4th at 10 a.m. with proof of payment.
