Quincy, Illinois(KHQA) — Bond was set in Sangamon County, Illinois Thursday afternoon for a Quincy man accused of violating an order of protection.

Gage Patterson did not appear for his court appearance in Sangamon County on Thursday. He’s in the custody at the Adams County jail.

A public defender was appointed and the case was extended to 11 a.m. December 5th.

The State plans to issue a writ to secure Patterson’s presence at his next hearing.

Patterson is accused of violating an order of protection with a Quincy teen who died in a pond near Springfield, Illinois last month.

16-year-old Kaylee Mehochko of Quincy was driving a car that ran into a pond at Rail Golf Course in Sherman, Illinois on Sunday, October 27th.

Police said Patterson was the passenger in that car and he was able to escape to safety.

An Adams County judge granted the Adams County State’s Attorney’s office request to increase bond for Patterson earlier this month.

Patterson’s bond is now set at $500,000.
