Roy Charles Hummell, 72, of Danville, died Friday, January 3, 2020, at the Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born June 30, 1947, in Mt. Pleasant, he was the son of James and Flora Long Hummell. On May 30, 1992, he married Janet Nau in New London.

He was a utility operator at DAK American.

He enjoyed watching a variety of movies, including John Wayne, Star Wars, Harry Potter, and The Hunger Games. He collected many things, including models and comics. He enjoyed listening to Oldies and Elvis music and had a soft spot for animals.

Survivors include his wife, Janet of Danville; one son, Chris (Stacey) Hummell of Green Bay, WI; one daughter, Angela (Paul Abendroth) Hummell of Appleton, WI; two step-children, Linda (Allen) Welch of Middletown and Steve (Teri) Beckman of Danville; seven grandchildren, Courtney Hummell, Phillip Hummell, Sydney Hummell, Amy Schroeder, Leland Schroeder, Spencer Abendroth, and Austin Abendroth; five step-grandchildren, Bailey Beckman, Lauren Beckman, Carlea Beckman, Garrett Beckman, and Cody Welch; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, sisters, and one son, Leland.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.

The family will have a private gathering.

Analie S. Leininger, 100, of Nauvoo, Illinois passed away at 2:35 p.m. Friday, January 3, 2020 at her home.

She was born on May 13, 1919 in Adliswil, Switzerland the daughter of Henry and Rosa (Haller) Egolf. She emigrated to Nauvoo with her family in 1922. In 1942 she married Richard D Scott in Victoria, Texas. He was a pilot of a B-17 and was Killed-In-Action in September of 1943 near Sicily during World War II. On November 5, 1949 she married Alfred E. Leininger in Nauvoo. He preceded in death on May 22, 1993.

Analie was a 1937 graduate of the Nauvoo High School. She then attended Western Illinois Teachers College, Macomb, Illinois. Analie worked various jobs throughout her life as a secretary, librarian, music teacher, church organist and as a fabric store sales clerk. She loved day lily gardening, sewing, furniture refinishing, cooking, reading and cats. Analie and Alfred took trips to Europe to meet her Swiss cousins, or stay with Rosalyn and Jan in Germany. She was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church in Nauvoo.

Survivors include one son: David Alfred Leininger of Nauvoo; one daughter: Rosalyn (Jan) Sorensen of Hamilton, Illinois; nieces and nephews: Brian, David and Bill Evenson and Linda Richards; several great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; one sister: Rosa Evenson and one brother: Henry Egolf Jr.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 8, 2020 at Schmitz-Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Nauvoo with Pastor Pete Hagglund officiating. Burial will be in the Nauvoo City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from noon until time of services Wednesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established for the Christ Lutheran Church or American Heart Association.

Opal P. Jones, 87, of Sperry, died at 12:30 PM Friday, January 3, 2020, at her home.

Born January 5, 1932, in Burlington, IA, she was the daughter of Clarence Guy and Zelma Rose Walker Van Etten. On June 15, 1951, she married Merle D. Jones in Burlington, Iowa. He died June 22, 2009.

Opal worked for Champion Spark Plug as a machinist for 10 years and Midwest Biscuit for 8 years.

She enjoyed gambling at the casino, fishing, quilting, crocheting, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include one son, Kenneth D. (Joanne) Jones of Danville; one daughter, Rhonda L. (Larry) Warth of Sperry; four grandchildren, Shawn Jones of Chevak, AK, Tim (Na Kay) Warth of Sperry, Tina (Jeff) Linden of Sperry, Nathan (Jeanna) Jones of Danville; 16 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Charles C. (Betty) Van Etten of LaVista, NE, and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and great grandson, Ty Warth.

The Graveside Committal Service for Opal will be 11:00 AM Thursday, January 9, 2020, at Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery. A time of food and fellowship will be held in the community room at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home following the burial.

In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for Great River Hospice and the Mississippi Valley Veteran’s Memorial.

Mrs. Phyllis Elaine (Greene) Mueller, 90, of Wapello, passed away on Wednesday, January 1, 2020, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington. She was born on August 8, 1929, in Painesville, Ohio, to the late Paul David, Sr. and Susie Lillian Peck Greene. Her father, as Secretary of YMCA, moved the family to Watertown, SD, and then to Mediapolis, IA, before Phyllis was 3 years old.

Phyllis was the Salutatorian in the graduating class of 1946 at Mediapolis High School.
She was married in Burlington on February 24, 1952, to Henry Phillip Humiston and they divorced in 1986. On June 3, 1989, in Wapello, she married Clyde Lawrence Mueller and he survives.
Phyllis had many interests including ballroom dancing, square & round dancing, line & country dancing, camping, crossword puzzles, word games, table games, sewing, and being a ski mom and wife. Her family was very important to her.

Her first jobs were as receptionist and general office work at McKesson-Robbins and Churchill Wholesale Drugs, then Northwestern Cabinet Company in Burlington, Iowa. Phyllis moved to Davenport, Iowa, and worked as a receptionist with Bendix Aviation. She returned to Burlington to care for her ailing mother until she passed away. She worked at Sylvania in Burlington in the office and ran the teletype in the front office. Later, she worked in the Louisa County Treasurer’s Office and retired after 27 years as Deputy Clerk of Court of Louisa County. She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church, Wapello.

Survivors include her husband, Clyde L. Mueller of Wapello; daughters Pamela (Ken) Dies of Lebanon, IN, and Carol (Bill) Smith of Rolla, MO; son Alan (Kathy) Humiston of St. Paul, MN; step-sons Terry (Lynn) Mueller of Malvern, IA, and Wayne (Susan) Mueller of Eldora, IA; step-daughters Tammy Andersen of Harlen, IA, and Teresa Mueller of Iowa City, IA; grandchildren Michelle Dies, Bridget Dies, and Andrew Humiston; step-grandchildren Jamie Dies, David Dies, Christopher Smith, Marcus Watson, Mandii de Garcia, Brighton Mueller, Lydia Mueller, Alex Mueller, David Post and Devin Post; step-great-grandchildren Olivia Dies and Nash Watson; and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Paul D. Greene, Jr., and infant Warren Allen Greene, and 2 step-great-grandchildren, Noah Watson and Leo de Garcia.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.

A Celebration of her life will be announced this spring.

Lucille F. Bonar, 101 of Morning Sun, Iowa, formerly of Yarmouth, Iowa went to be with the Lord on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2019 at the Morning Sun Care Center. Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 18, 2020 at Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral Home, Mediapolis, Iowa. Pastor Jeff Duffy will officiate. A celebration of life for Lucille will be held at the Yarmouth Baptist Church in April. Lucille Wunnenberg was born on April 25, 1918 in Sperry, Iowa, the seventh child of Otto and Anna (Steffner) Wunnenberg. On March 1, 1936, Lucille was united in marriage to Glen C. Bonar in Burlington, Iowa. He preceded her in death on June 12, 1999. Lucille was a homemaker, working 25 years as a cook at the Yarmouth School and a journalist for several local newspapers. A long-time member of the Yarmouth First Baptist Church, serving in the children’s nursery and a correspondent for the church. Her love for writing was included in several published poems. She enjoyed reading, watching the Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeyes games, along with music of Elvis and Johnny Cash. Time with family and friends on the farm were special events.

Lucille will be deeply missed by two daughters, Joan Delzell (Doug) Bausch of Morning, Sun and Glenda (Don) Heckenberg of Carmel, Indiana; eight grandchildren, Monte (Becky) Delzell of Morning Sun, Kent (Sheila) Delzell of Morning Sun, Kirk (Vicki) Delzell of Mount Union, Mark Delzell of Bettendorf, Troy Bonar of Morning Sun, Brett (Katie) Bonar of Morning Sun, Teri (Jim) Zalesky of Corvallis, Oregon and Steve (Lisa) Heckenberg of Carmel, Indiana; seventeen great-grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Merry Bonar of Morning Sun; many nieces and nephews and special friends, Dottie Tonkinson of Holdrege, Nebraska, Cleo Lisle of Laguna Woods, California and Marilu Aijala of Morning Sun.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; son, Duane Bonar; great-grandson, Ian Delzell; seven brothers and six sisters.
