Wapello, Ia (The Hawk Eye) — The Wapello School Board voted unanimously on Wednesday that hourly employees of the district will be getting paid their regular salaries through the extended closures.

The Hawk Eye reports that this decision means the employees will receive a paycheck through the end of April.

During the board meeting on March 18th, it had approved paying the hourly workers’ salaries through the 13th of April, following the decision by Governor Reynolds to keep schools closed through April 10.

Superintendent Mike Peterson indicated that with Reynolds extending the closure, the board had options it could consider concerning the hourly workers’ pay.
