Southeast Iowa Regional Airport receives COVID-19 relief

Burlington, Ia-  With the threat of COVID-19 slowing travel, local airports are receiving federal funding to help their response to the virus.

The Hawkeye reports that Southeast Iowa Regional Airport is receiving a grant of over $600,000, and three other local airports will receive smaller amounts of funding.

Fort Madison Municipal Airport will receive $20,000, and municipal airports in Keokuk and Mount Pleasant will each receive $30,000.

The funding amounts to $10 billion in all 50 states, which U.S. Transportation Secretary Elaine L. Chao said: “will help fund the continued operations of our nation’s airports during this crisis and save workers’ jobs.”

79 airports in the state of Iowa will receive over $70,000,000.
