Burlington, Ia-  A state audit has found that a former Sherriff’s deputy made several improper purchases with county money totaling over $7,000.

In a report from the office of state auditor Rob Sand, former Des Moines County Chief Deputy Jeff White returned about $3,100 dollars of the items he bought, which included bullets for a personal gun, computers, and drones.

However, over $4200 worth of items, including ammunition and an Apple Mackbook Pro, were not able to be located.

White retired from the department in December of 2018 after some of these purchases were challenged.
