Burlington, Ia- the 2nd day of hearings for former Sheriff’s deputy Al Waterman wrapped up Thursday afternoon with the members of the Civil Service Council beginning their deliberation to reach a verdict.
The hearings were held as Waterman appealed his firing from the Des Moines County Sheriff’s Office for reported insubordination concerning an accusation against a fellow deputy and alleged witnesses that may or may not exist.
Testimony was heard from multiple members of the department including Sheriff Johnstone, and closing statements were made by both sides.
The Council then adjourned to go into deliberation and review the evidence in order to make their ruling.
