BHS to Honor 2020 Graduating Class

Burlington, Ia- Due to COVID-19 the Burlington School District was unable to host a normal graduation ceremony for the class of 2020.  However, the district still has a plan to honor this year’s seniors.

Yard signs have been created and will be on display in alphabetical order on the Burlington High School lawn from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 21. Some of the high school staff will be appropriately distanced from one another along the line of signs from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. to cheer on students before the yard signs are distributed to each individual student. Parents and/or senior students can pick up their signs after 7 p.m. and they will also be available until 10 a.m. Friday morning in the main office.

For those who can’t pick up their sign, district individuals will be delivering signs on Friday the 22nd.  The district is also creating a senior showcase video that will be aired on YouTube at 3:00 p.m. on May 31, BHS’ original date and time for commencement.

This is not intended to replace a traditional ceremony, and the district is hopeful that a normal ceremony can take place later this summer.
