Des Moines, Ia- Leaders of Black Lives Matter say Governor Reynolds has said she would sign an executive order to restore felon voting rights in Iowa before the general election.

However, she did say it would likely not happen until later this summer.

They met with the governor at the capitol Monday while protesters rallied outside the door chanting “Let them vote.”

Representative Ako Abdul-Samad who was also in the meeting, says signing an order in time for the election would be a positive step, but he is happy that the governor is not rushing the order before vetting the language with supporters of felon voting rights.
