West Point, Ia- The West Point Community Club and the Sweet Corn Festival Committee have agreed to cancel this year’s sweet corn festival.
According to a statement posted on the festival’s Facebook page, the club voted in majority to cancel this year’s event until next year, due to the ongoing threat of COVID-19.
The post goes on to say that the decision was not an easy one, but was made based on the safety of the public.
The festival is the latest summer event to be canceled due to COVID-19, along with the Southeast Iowa Symphony Orchestra’s Symphonic Blast concert, which was scheduled for July 11th.
