Fort Madison, Ia- Siemens has laid off about 130 workers at the wind turbine plant in Fort Madison.
Lee County Economic Development Group President and CEO, Dennis Fraise told TV station WGEM that the layoffs on Monday were due to the factory phasing out their shorter blade product.
Once the layoffs are complete, over 400 employees will still work at the plant.
Fraise also said the Lee County Economic Development Group will help the laid-off workers find jobs in Lee County.
