Bettendorf, Ia-  A FEMA Disaster Recovery Center opened in Bettendorf on Thursday in order to provide another option for victims of the August 10th derecho storm to apply for disaster assistance.

The facility is a drive-thru center, allowing people to stay in their cars the entire time, but they are also able to work with those who don’t arrive in cars.

This center, along with the ones in Marshalltown and Cedar Rapids will only be open temporarily, but they aren’t the only option for applying for disaster relief assistance.

Those seeking relief can call 800-621-3362, or they can go online to disasterassistance.gov
