Burlington, Ia (The Hawk Eye)- More footage and documents related to the death of Marquis Jones in Burlington have been made public.
The Hawk Eye reports that footage from a nearby home security camera and from Lt. Adam Schafer’s body cam, as well as Schaefer’s statement, have been made public.
They were made public by the attorney representing Jones’s mother in a wrongful death suit against the city and the police officers involved in the shooting which was filed in May of last year.
Jones was shot by Officer Christopher Chiprez after fleeing from police in 2017 near a home on sixth and maple streets. Footage of the incident from Chiprez’s bodycam was made public in July of this year.
