Burlington, Ia-  The Des Moines County Sherriff’s Office is asking residents to be on the lookout for potential burglaries.

At Tuesday’s Board of Supervisors meeting, Sherriff Mike Johnstone said that rural daytime burglaries are becoming an issue, particularly in the western end near Danville.

“We would encourage everyone to keep an eye out in their neighborhoods for any suspicious vehicles they might see, people who should not be in your areas, people who are unknown to you who happen to be cruising your gravel roads, and some of the blacktops,” said Johnstone.  “Be sure to let us know so we can check it out, get a plate if you can and weel find out what they’re doing.”

Sherriff Johnstone reminded residents to lock doors and not leave keys in or near vehicles.  He also recommended putting up security cameras around homes and property.
