James Boyles, 92, of Mediapolis, passed away on Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at the Great River Hospice House. Private services will be held at a later date. James B. Boyles was born on February 11, 1928 in Golden, Illinois, the son of Bernard and Hazel (Johnson) Boyles. He attended Augusta High School. James served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was united in marriage to Shirley Rawson on June 29, 1947. James owned and operated County Fair Foods in Mediapolis and Wapello for many years. He was a member of the Mediapolis Presbyterian Church, the Mediapolis Fire Department and the American Legion. James enjoyed golfing, dancing, traveling and spending time with his family.
James will be deeply missed by his children, Gregory (Janice) Boyles of Burlington, Gayle (Patrick) Daly of Burlington, Linda (Jeff) Krieger of Ft. Meyers, FL; five grandchildren and five great-grandsons.
James was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brothers, David, Boyd, Timothy and Thomas; sisters, Betty, Marion, Katherine, Beryl and Margaret.

Carolyn Ann Moore, 84, of rural LaHarpe, Illinois, passed away at 5:30 a.m. Thursday, October 15, 2020 at her home.

Carolyn was born on March 8, 1936 in Macomb, Illinois the daughter of Wendell and Helen (Brown) Driskell. On June 20, 1954 she married Dean Moore at the First Christian Church in Blandinsville. He survives.

She was a member of the Blandinsville Christian Church for 60 years. She worked as a teacher’s aid LaHarpe Elementary school for 20 years. Her family also owned and operated the True Value Hardware Store in LaHarpe for many years. Carolyn was also a member of the Legion Auxiliary in LaHarpe, the Blandinsville Red Hat Ladies and served as a voting judge in Blandinsville. She and Dean celebrated 67 years of marriage in June.Carolyn enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles, word search, embroidering and cross stitching.

Survivors include her husband, Dean; two sons, Michael (Bambi) Moore of Blandinsville and Larry “Chip” (Janet) Moore of Macomb; one daughter, Jennifer (Lanny) Bowman of Blandinsville, Illinois; 9 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Donald “Red” Driskell of Blandinsville, Alan “Fuzz” (Kathy) Driskell of LaHarpe and Joe Driskell of Blandinsville; one sister, Janice Ritenour of Dubuque, Iowa and numerous nieces and nephews.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Wendell “Whimp” Driskell Jr.; one sister-in-law, Wanda Driskell; her brother-in-law, Kenny Ritenour and one niece, Laurie Ritenour.

The funeral service for Mrs. Moore will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 19, 2020 at the First Chirstian Church in Blandinsville with Andy Dressler and Gordon Blankenship officiating. Burial will follow in the LaHarpe Cemetery. A visitation with the family will be held from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m. Sunday, October 18, 2020 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe.
