Police make pair of arrests in drug investigation

Burlington, Ia-  Authorities arrested 2 people while executing two search warrants in Burlington.

On Monday, October 26th, the  Burlington Police Department’s Problem Oriented Policing Unit (POP), along with the Southeast Iowa Narcotics Task Force, Iowa Department of Narcotics Enforcement (DNE), Henry County Sheriff’s Office, Des Moines County Tactical Response Unit (TRU) and the Iowa State Patrol Tactical Unit executed search warrants on two (2) residences located in the 400 blk. of May Avenue.

The search warrants were being executed in reference to an ongoing narcotics investigation.

33-year-old Ashley Newsom of Burlington (above) was arrested for gathering where controlled substances were unlawfully used.

40-year-old Joseph Rollins of Burlington (Above) was arrested for two counts of Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, Possession of an Offensive Weapon, and gathering where controlled substances were unlawfully used.

Newsom and Rollins are being held at the Des Moines County Correctional Center pending a court appearance.
