Washington- Republican Mariannette Miller-Meeks will be in Washington today (Wednesday) to receive the same orientation as other new members of congress.
Miller-Meeks was certified as the winner over Democrat Rita Hart on Monday in Iowa’s Second Congressional District after a recount that saw her 282 vote lead shrink to a lead of just 6 votes.
“I’m happy and ready to get to work for the people of Iowa,” Miller-Meeks says.
Democrat Rita Hart has until the close of business Wednesday to file a court challenge to the result in an effort to start a second recount in the district.
