Burlington Police make arrest in connection with tuesday shooting

Burlington, Ia-  Burlington Police have announced the arrest of a West Burlington man in connection with an early Tuesday morning shooting.

On Tuesday December 22nd , 2020 at approximately 3:02 am the Burlington Police Department responded to the 1500 block of South 13 th Street regarding several reports of shots being fired. Upon arrival, officers did not locate any victims but did locate a vehicle that had been struck by gunfire.

Officers spoke with witnesses who provided information regarding to a vehicle seen leaving the area shortly after the shooting. Officers promptly located the vehicle and identified the occupants. Detectives from the Burlington Police Department’s Problem Oriented Policing Unit
responded to the scene to assist with the investigation.

A firearm, which had been reported stolen, was recovered by officers during the investigation.

32 year old Montez Thomas Thompson of West Burlington (Above) was arrested and charged with Criminal Mischief 2nd Degree, Carrying Weapons, Theft 4th Degree, Reckless Use of a Firearm.

Montez Thompson is being held at the Des Moines County Correctional Center on bond.
