Des Moines, Ia- Authorities have decided not to press charges against the parents of an eastern Iowa boy after an AMBER Alert was issued Tuesday.
The Des Moines Register reports that authorities believed the 5-year-old boy was abducted by his parents from the custody of a court-ordered caretaker in Baldwin, Jackson County at around 3:30 PM Tuesday.
An AMBER alert was issued for the boy, but it was canceled later the same evening after the boy and his parents were found.
The parents were briefly taken into custody, but will not be charged with a crime. Jackson County Sheriff Brent Kilburg said that the child was not abducted and the parents did not “try to prevent a court-ordered placement of the child.”
