Dennis James Wiley Sr., 67, of Mount Pleasant, died at 3:05 PM Saturday, July 10, 2021, at his home.
Born December 14, 1953, in Burlington, IA, he was the son of Alvin Owen and Dorothy Frances Barkus Wiley.
Dennis worked for Burlington Northern Santa Fe for 45 years.
He enjoyed socializing at his favorite bar, Rumors, fishing and was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan.
Survivors include his son Dennis “DJ” Wiley Jr. of Mt. Pleasant; one granddaughter, Sophia Wiley; sister, Dianna Rounds of Burlington; two brothers, Terry Wiley of West Burlington and Jerry Wiley; and his good friend, Kevin Murdock of Mt. Pleasant.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Travis Owen Wiley.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.
There will be no visitation or services.

George “Tank” Osborn, 85, of Burlington, died at 12:13 AM Saturday, July 10, 2021, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House in West Burlington, IA.
Born August 29, 1935, in Amory, MS, he was the son of Bennie and Nadine (Burns) Ausborn. On May 26, 1957, he married Theoma McKinney in Amory, MS. She preceded him in death on March 19, 2016.
George worked for Ideal Ready Mix for 43 years.
He was a member of Union Baptist Church Full Gospel Fellowship, where he was always donating his time and talents. He enjoyed singing in the church choir, being a deacon, driving the bus for the church, and assisting with the treasury and maintenance work. He was also a member of the Teamsters. George enjoyed hunting, fishing, singing, and loved playing sports, including: football, basketball and baseball. He was friendly and always willing to help anyone he met, he never knew a stranger.
Survivors include his son, Melvin Osborn of Burnsville, MN; five daughter, Belinda (William) Walker of Elk Grove, CA, Beneda Keener of Burlington, Marlene Osborn of Houston, TX, Denise Osborn of Burlington and Sandra Osborn of Las Vegas, NV; seven grandchildren: William Walker III, Shon Osborn, Zachary Keener, Ezekiel Keener, Jacob Osborn, Allissa Osborn, Francesca Osborn; seven great-grandchildren: Zhamara Walker, Zayda Walker, Ziara Walker, William Walker IV, Ciel Keener, Evelyn Osborn and Ava Osborn; sister, Mabeline Gilleylen of Amory, MS; brother, Orlando Ausborn of Nesbit, MS; brother-in-law, Theodis (Ernestine) McKinney of Smithville, MS; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Bennie, Eulice and Otha Osborn; two sisters, one in infancy and Earlene Shaw; and one son, Larry Osborn.
Visitation will be from 12:00 PM until 7:00 PM Thursday, July 15, 2021 at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home.
The funeral service for Mr. Osborn will be 1:00 PM Friday, July 16, 2021, at Union Baptist Church Full Gospel Fellowship with Reverend Lawrence L. Manson officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.

The good Lord took Juanita Carol Jarvis, Master Gardener and Prayer Warrior, to His home on July 8, 2021, to tend His gardens, and to take the lead in His prayer groups.
She was born June 17, 1941 in rural Dallas City, Illinois, the daughter of Carroll and Vella Rexroat Ochsner. On August 17, 1958, she married Garry Jarvis in Dallas City. He preceded her in death on June 23, 2014.
Juanita was valedictorian of the class of 1959 at Dallas City High School. She completed courses through the University Of Illinois Extension and was certified as a Master Gardener. She had been employed at the Lomax Canning Factory, Sylvania Corporation, and was a receptionist for Dr. Allaman for many years. She was also owner and operator of G & J Service Station in Stronghurst and later owned J J’s Good Earth Garden & Gifts. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, and was a Lay Minister for the Stronghurst United Methodist Church, where she served on the Church Board and was active in the United Methodist Women. She also played the keyboard for both the Carman and Stronghurst United Methodist Churches.
Survivors include four sons; Larry Jarvis of Macomb, IL, Jerry (Krystal) Jarvis of Milwaukee, WI, Terry (Young Suk) Jarvis of Portland, OR, and Randy Jarvis of Stronghurst, five grandchildren; Brandon Jarvis, Shannon Hatcher, Kevin Jarvis, Joann Jarvis, and Valerie Jarvis-McQuillen. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son; John Lee Jarvis; and one brother; Robert Ochsner.
The funeral will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday July 14, 2021 at the Stronghurst United Methodist Chruch with Pastor Lisa Unger officiating. Burial will follow in the Stronghurst Cemetery. Community Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst. A memorial fund has been established for the Stronghurst United Methodist Church. Dianne L. Bensch of Enterprise, AL, formerly of Burlington, IA, passed away on Sunday, July 4, 2021. She was 74.
Dianne was born in Burlington on July 8, 1946 to the late Edward J. and Christine Behtz. She was a 1964 graduate of Burlington High School. On July 8, 1980, she married Kurt Bensch.
She was a devoted mother and grandmother, and a proud Army wife. Dianne was honored to receive the Superior Civilian Service Award.
Survivors include her husband of 41 years, Kurt Bensch; children, Howard Edward Morris (Kate), Tara Sue Morris, Kurt G. Bensch III (Miranda); sister, Barbara Jean Foster; brother, Edward Behtz; one daughter-in-law, Carrie Morris; grandchildren, Carol, Misty, Kyle, and Jade Morris, Burton James Bensch; Joshua Morris (Alyse), and Jeffrey Morris(Chance); great-grandchildren, Zane and Brooklyn. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Jeffrey Allen and Richard Lee.
Graveside service and burial will be held 11:00 AM on Thursday, July 15, 2021 at Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for the Muscular Dystrophy Association in honor of her son, Jeffrey Allen, who died from the disease.

Mr. Steven R. Gillaspie, 68, of Burlington died at 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House.
Born July 6, 1953 in Washington, IA, he was the son of Robert and Joy (Bauer) Gillaspie. He married Geri Bender October 3, 1993 in Burlington.
Steven graduated from Fairfield High School and attended Indian Hills Community College. He was a heavy equipment mechanic for John Deere in Sperry and Des Moines County Roads Department, retiring in September of 2011.
He was a member of the Elks Lodge, Eagles Club, Shoquoquon Boat Club and Bluff Harbor Yacht Club.
Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Geri Gillaspie; sons, Duston Gillaspie of Fruitland, IA and Trent Gillaspie of Wapello, IA; daughters, Karen (Jeff) Elliott and Sandy Elmore both of Burlington; nine grandchildren, Matthew, Natallie, Devon, Theron, Jami, Lyndi, Kori, Derek, and Kayla; his parents, Robert and Joy Gillaspie of Fairfield, IA; sister, Cindy (Mike) Scearcy of Fairfield, IA; brother, Pastor Wes (Ann) Gillaspie of Frankenmuth, MI; several nieces and nephews.
The memorial service for Mr. Gillaspie will be 11:30 a.m. Friday, July 16th at Lunning Chapel. His brother, Pastor Wes Gillaspie will officiate. There will be a lunch at The Eagles Club following the service. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. until the time of service, where the family will receive friends.
According to his wishes, cremation has been entrusted to Lunning Chapel.

Marlyce Buttrick Hopson left this world August 8, 2020. Born November 18, 1925 in Crosby, Minnesota. She grew up in Augusta, Iowa on her family’s farm where she helped with the gardening and milking cows. Her favorite chore was taking care of the chickens. She graduated from Denmark Academy in 1943 and worked at Northwestern Bell as a switchboard operator. She married Carl Hopson on October 15, 1944. They had two children, Sherry and Steven. Marlyce worked at Champion Spark Plug, retiring after 29 years. Her hobbies included genealogy, growing roses, and participating in the Daughters of the American Revolution local chapter. She was extremely proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved spending time with them. Her children and grandchildren fondly remember holiday dinners and her famous dressing and her Christmas decorating, cookies, and candies. She is survived by her son Steven Hopson; grandchildren Lisa Freeman, Ginger Ellison, Damon Hillyer, and Cari Hopson; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Bruce Buttrick and Myrtle Tuttle; three sisters; two brothers; husband Carl Hopson; and daughter Sherry Hopson.
The graveside memorial funeral service and inurnment for Mrs. Hopson will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, July 19th at Aspen Grove Cemetery. Pastor Ryan Cosgrove will officiate.
