West Burlington, IA- The Target store in West Burlington had to be closed for a time on Thursday due to an electrical fire.
According to an online post from the West Burlington Fire Department, Burlington and West Burlington fire crews responded to the target store at 525 S Gear in West Burlington at about 10:30 am Thursday, July 29th, 2021, for a report of an electrical cabinet that had caught fire.
Once on scene firefighters located an active fire in a high voltage cabinet. Target employees had used several dry chemical extinguishers on the fire initially to control it. Fire crews set up ventilation and monitored the fire until Alliant was able to disconnect power to the cabinet.
Damage was contained to the area of the fire. Damage estimates are being evaluated at this time.
