Obituaries for Monday August 30th

Sherrida “Sherry” Irene Corley, 71, of Burlington, died at 3:33 am Saturday, August 28, 2021, at the Arbor Court Retirement Home in Mount Pleasant.

Born November 28, 1949, in Putnam, CT, she was the daughter of Dale Brokaw and Judith Elaine Warth Corley. She married Joseph Earl Kuster with whom she had two daughters. They later divorced. She then married Philip Melvin Forrester with whom she had two daughters and one son. They later divorced.

She was a 1967 graduate of Burlington High School.

Most of her time was spent as a homemaker and mother, but she also worked as an Army Recruiter Secretary, the Clerk of Courts, the Deli for HyVee Foods, and at Walmart.

Sherry spent a good portion of her life as a navy-kid, spending a lot of time and making a lot of memories in Chicago, IL and Hawaii. She was a dedicated and supportive mother of all of her children, always taking time to play Ms. America Barbie, take the kids to the Arion Restaurant for birthday dinners, and making her signature dishes of Annis Cookies, lasagna, or spaghetti sauce to name a few. She was always there to help with Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts, and was very active in the BHS class of 1967, spending many years helping with class reunions. Sherry had a very unique sense of humor, and could always make you laugh. She was a huge fan of Danielle Steel, and a die-hard St. Louis Cardinals Fan. She loved to sew and crochet, and was the President of the Resident Council at Autumn Heights. Most of all she loved her family, and always enjoyed having lunch with her friends Pat and Joyce.

Survivors include five children, Tammy (David) Schmidt of Burlington, Stacie Kuster of West Burlington, IA, Jennifer (Matt) Levins of West Burlington, IA, Michael Forrester of Burlington, and Dana (Randy) Ackerson of Burlington; 10 grandchildren, David (Logan) Wall, Danielle Wall, Andrew Lunasco, Josiah Ruiz, Persephone Forrester, Hades Forrester, Tessa Piper, Bryan Piper, Olivia Lietch, and Kaylynn Leasure; two great-grandchildren, James Standard, Granger Wall; four siblings, Greg (Carol) Corley, Karen Corley, Daniel (Patty) Corley, Kathy (Terry) Strong; several nieces and nephews, and many four-legged grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, two nieces Lacey McDannel and Katherine Cook, two grandkids, Ellie Alice and Kam Levins, and her close family friend, Ed Beardsley.

Visitation will be from 12:00 PM until 7:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home.

The funeral service for Ms. Corley will be 10:00 AM Thursday, September 2, 2021, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home with Rev. Ephraim Twillie officiating. Cremation will be entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory following the service.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for the Burlington High School Athletic Program, and the West Burlington Independent School District.

Dorothy Lucille Webb, 94, of Wapello, passed away on Friday, August 27, 2021 at Wapello Specialty Care. Private family services will be held at the Grandview Cemetery. Memorials have been established for the Wapello Volunteer Fire Department, Wapello School Milk Program or the Wapello United Methodist Church. Dorothy Lucille Keltner was born on April 17, 1927 in Louisa County, Iowa, the daughter of Job and Grace (Hardman) Keltner. Dorothy graduated from Grandview High School. On February 23, 1947, Dorothy was united in marriage to Everett “Bud” Webb in Grandview. Dorothy was a school cook for many years for the Wapello Community Schools. She was a member of the Wapello United Methodist Church, Eastern Star and V.F.W. Auxiliary. She enjoyed going on bus trips, spending time with family and never missing a grandchild’s sporting event.

Dorothy will be deeply missed by her children, Anita (Dennis) Kennedy of Omaha, Nebraska, Diana (Larry) Kuhlenbeck of Burlington, Doug (Janice) Webb of Wapello, Peggy (Rick) Willson of Wapello and Kevin (Carol) Webb of Colorado; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild and brother, Job “Junior” Keltner of Burlington.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bud on December 18, 2001; siblings, Don Keltner, Clarence Keltner, Harlan Keltner, Jolene Pogemiller and Maxine Cornick.

James Alan Ullrich, 84, of West Burlington, died at 10:28 PM Thursday, August 26, 2021, at his home.

Born September 27, 1936, in Ft. Madison, IA, he was the son of Russell L. and Marcella R. Miller Ullrich. On December 15, 1962, he married Janet Kay Beebe in Ft. Madison.

He worked in paper production for Georgia Pacific, Simpson Safety Paper of Burlington and Midwest Wax Paper in Ft. Madison, retiring in 1997.

He was a 1955 graduate of Ft. Madison High School.

He was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving during the Korean War from June 1, 1955 until June 1, 1958.

He was of the Catholic faith. He loved to be outdoors, and enjoyed camping, hunting, and fishing.

Survivors include wife, Janet Kay Ullrich of West Burlington three daughters, Rebecca L. (Edward) Houser of Fulton, MO, Barbara A. (Rick) Burkett of Farmington, IA, and Karen S. (Dwight Moody) Taylor of Washington, IA; seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and one on the way, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his two brothers, Albert and Richard Ullrich.

Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM Tuesday, August 31, 2021, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home.

The Funeral Service for Mr. Ullrich will be 11:00 PM Tuesday, August 31, 2021, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home with Rev. James Flattery as the Celebrant. Burial will be in Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for the Alzheimer’s Association.
