West Burlington, IA-  This weekend area emergency responders, along with BNSF and Amtrak personnel, will be participating in training in West Burlington.

The public should not be alarmed if they are in the area and see numerous emergency response personnel, vehicles, and/or other volunteers around the vicinity of the north end of Broadway Street near and on the railroad tracks.

“We have been working with BNSF and Amtrak for a number of years to schedule this classroom and hands-on training opportunity”, according to Gina Hardin, Des Moines County Emergency Management Agency Coordinator. “Thanks to the pandemic and flooding over the last few years we have had to reschedule multiple times but with a lot of persistence we are able to bring this invaluable training to fruition.”

This training will be held on September 18 through the 20th from around 1:00 to 5:00 PM each day and will be held between Blackhawk Services Corp., formerly Baker’s Pride, and Shearer’s Foods.
