Burlington, IA- Over the course of this past weekend the Burlington Fire Department participated in a multi-agency, county-wide railway hazmat response drill, led by representatives from BNSF and Amtrak.
The training emphasized hands-on training on rail cars on the tracks behind Burlington’s Station 3 near the old West Burlington Shops.
Students were introduced to a variety of tools and equipment specific to freight rail car responses and drilled on victim removal from passenger railcars, containment of leaking fluids, and decontamination of victims.
