Iowa COVID hospitalizations hit 2021 high

Burlington, IA-  The Iowa Department of Public Health has announced a 2021 high for COVID hospitalizations.

The Des Moines Register reports that according to DPH data released Wednesday, September 22nd, 638 people were hospitalized with COVID-19, up from 578 the previous week.  That’s is the highest number of hospitalizations since December of 2020.

161 COVID patients were in the ICU and 74 were on ventilators.

The state also reported an increase of 12,163 positive cases, and 81 deaths.
