Lee County Sheriff’s Department hosts county wide sex offender registry compliance check

Montrose, IA-  The Lee County Sheriff’s Office hosted a county-wide sex offender registry check on Wednesday, September 29th 2021.

The Keokuk Police Department, Fort Madison Police Department, West Point/Donnelson Police Department, Montrose Police Department, and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation assisted with the compliance checks.

Lee County Sheriff’s Office sex offender registry compliance officers reported that 69 checks were made, netting one arrest and two were found to not be in compliance and charges can be expected.  Four Lee County sex offenders are currently incarcerated, Three with outstanding warrants, and one is expected to be living outside the country.

Regular compliance checks are done in Lee County to assure that the public is aware these individuals live nearby and are being monitored closely.
