Burlington, IA-  The Burlington School Board has approved a tier-based system for school mask requirements.

The Hawk Eye reports that under the new tier system, mask requirements in Burlington schools will reflect the county positivity rate.

The system consists of three tiers’

  • Tier 1: Green: No masks required if the county positivity rate is 5% or below.
  • Tier 2: Yellow: Masks required during school hours when students are present when the positivity rate is between 5.1% and 12%.
  • Tier 3: Red: Masks required at all times in school facilities if the positivity rate is 12.1% or above.
