Des Moines County Public Health offering COVID-19 booster shots

Burlington, IA-  Des Moines County Public Health is now offering COVID-19 booster shots of both the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines to anyone 18 and older.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recently expanded recommendations for booster shots to include anyone over the age of 18 who has received both doses of a two-shot variety of the vaccine (Pfizer or Moderna) about 6 months after the second dose.

For anyone who received the single-shot Johnson and Johnson vaccine, a booster dose after a 2 month period is recommended.

Des Moines County Public Health is offering COVID vaccines and boosters for anyone over the age of 18 every Monday and Wednesday from 8:30 AM to 4 PM at their offices at 522 North 3rd Street.

COVID-19 Vaccine clinics for children 5-11 are weekly on Thursday from 8:30 to 4:00 PM.  Appointments for clinics can be made on the Des Moines County website.  Walk-ins are also accepted.

According to the latest data on the states coronavirus tacking website, about 47% of Des Moines County residents are fully vaccinated.
