Former Iowa Libertarian Party chairman accused of stealing party funds

Knoxville, IA-  The Former Chairman of the Iowa Libertarian Party is facing a charge of First Degree Theft after party leaders say he used party funds for personal expenses.

The Des Moines Register reports that Knoxville Police on Wednesday, December 8th, arrested 41-year-old Michael Conner Jr., the former chairman of the Iowa Libertarian Party who resigned in October of this year.

According to a criminal complaint, during his time as chairman, Conner used a party debit card for personal expenses, including “several streaming services,” among other purchases totaling over $10,000.

Conner has been released on $10,000 bond.
