US Senate Iowa Seats – Republican Candidates

The candidates for the 2022 United States Senate election are beginning their campaigns. There is one seat up for election that is currently held by Republican Senator Chuck Grassley, who is running for re-election at the age of 88. The Republican candidates for the Iowa Senate Seat are Chuck Grassley and Jim Carlin.

Senator Chuck Grassley has served Iowa in the US Senate for decades, first being elected in 1980. His work for Iowa has included many things from healthcare to education and renewable energy to agriculture. His most recent initiatives include focusing on cutting prescription drug prices, bipartisan reform to better support cattle farmers, and strengthening national border security. Senator Grassley claims to have made it his mission to keep up with Iowans to better serve them in government. Every year, he has labored to visit all 99 counties at least once to meet local lawmakers, speak to the public, and get to know the people of his state.

Jim Carlin is a lover of all things Iowa, running for the Senate in order to further serve Iowa. He ran a law practice in Sioux City for many years, meeting people and taking cases that would shape his views and encourage him to run for public office. He was elected to both the Iowa House of Representatives and the State Senate, serving in his senate position since 2017. Additionally, Carlin is a veteran of the United States Army. He has a long list of campaign issues and some include improving the economy to support American families, preserving rural Iowa, and saving family farms. He and his wife Donna live with their family in Sioux City, Iowa.

The primary election will occur on June 7th of 2022 with the general election happening on November 8th.
