Des Moines, IA- The Red Cross is seeking blood donors in an effort to address the nation’s dangerously low blood supply.
The Regional Communications Manager for the Iowa American Red Cross, Emily Holly, tells Radio Iowa that a combination of factors has led to the shortage, including COVID, and that they are working to educate people about donating blood.
“If you are vaccinated or if you are not vaccinated, if you have high blood pressure, you can come in and give blood, she says. “The main thing is we want you to be feeling good. If you are feeling well, and you are in reasonably good health, you should be able me in to give blood.”
