Fort Madison Home struck by gunfire

Fort Madison, IA-  The Fort Madison Police Department is investigating a shots fired incident in the city.

According to a news release, on Monday, January 17th, 2022, at 8:38 PM, a 911 call was received from an occupant inside a home in the 2800 block of Avenue K stating that shots were fired into his house.

Investigating officers observed damage to a second-story window and recovered four shell casings from the roadway.  The residence was occupied at the time, but no one was injured.

The neighborhood was canvassed, yielding additional video evidence of the incident, which is believed to be a threat directed to a resident of the home who was not there at the time rather than a random act.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident.
